    grid mode.

there you have 4 rows of 16 pages.

the top row contains 1 or more pages sequencing drm instruments 1-4
the second row 1 or more pages for instruments 5-8.

you use the 2nd horizontal row.

you can play any combination of the 4 rows simultaneously.

I dont understand how your managing to get the kick and clap playing together unless your using chords.

I have a "touched by sound DRM-1" which is basically the MK1 of the machine your using.

    sounds great to me!

If your programming beats aswell, 16 tracks quickly run out.

i mean 2 notes 1 or more octaves apart..Can’t be done afaik with the current OS. They’d need to come up with a different way to display the notes as well. flashing green/orange or red for the different octaves or something like that.

afaik its not possible to create chords with the same notes. Also not by manual input.

It aint elegant, but i just got one of these. The plan is to use it for the less critical stuff. In all honesty i havn’t tried it yet and it wont help bandwidth issues. I’m on a Nemo and not running that many tracks anyway.

if your in europe both thomann and musicstore stock them. Kenton have a 5 out version.

    only across pages right?

I just discovered i can have grid mode in "edit" and quickly jump between pages from page view by holding the page button(which takes me up to grid) then choosing another page. I like being able to have the pages in toggle mode, especially for beats.

    lovely!

I was previously hitting grid then double clicking into a different page.

I dunno what other people think but it might also be nice to have a tweaked parameter’s value bar show up whilst tweaking in GRID mode (without holding the MAP button as above), with a 2 second pause before reverting back to grid afterwards for example.

Initially i liked the idea, but what happens if i’m mangling beats by switching pages with my right hand and tweaking the cutoff(CC mix) for a bassline with the left hand simultaneously?

I’d like to see the CC mixes working in grid-track(live) mode. I currently can’t mute and tweak from there, forcing me to switch back and forth to grid mode.

While on the subject, i’d like to suggest disabling the double click to enter a page once in grid-track-live mode, for the same reason as below..

It’s been mentioned in a few threads before, but currently double clicking a page in grid-live mode throws things out of sync. I know Gabriel has been working on this, but now am starting to wonder if grid-live mode shouldn’t allow for entering pages as the chances are we will be rapidly hitting buttons here and can accidentally enter pages. Someone already mentioned this elsewhere i believe.

its 6 a.m and i’m losing track of logic so forgive me if im repeating, but in grid-track-live mode hitting 2-3(not 4!) buttons in 1 bank and 1 button in a a bank directly above or under it results in the all the buttons(2-3) in the second bank to also toggle.

..and it would also be really, really nice if at some point the bank mutes could also be simultaneously toggled with track mutes in grid-track live mode. Currently they sometimes fail.

    time for some sleep.

You’re talking about double clicking in the grid-live mode right?

afaik Gabriel is aware of it and has a fix in the pipeline.

the three states do slow me down in "live" situations. i agree on the making the new "preview-edit"(flashing green) mode the default alternative to the step toggle(fixed green) as i find it gets more use than the old "edit"(flashing orange)

I also think having the current edit mode act globally for all pages won’t mean a great loss in functionality, and will keep things more intuitive.

Of course i mean all pages within the current playing cluster.

I know you’ve probably got your hands full Gabriel, but have you had a look into the page muting when dealing with clusters from "grid-track live" mode?

I still think irreversibly overriding all pages with the mute state of the currently playing page when entering GTL mode is a good idea.

why on earth would you WANT to turn it off? ;)

try a few beat patterns, go nuts on a different element in each one..So 1 has heaps of kicks, the other has rolling snares, 1 with lots of hats..

    then mush away..

    :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

seriously though..it will be nice once we can turn it off, but i’m absolutely thrilled to have this functionality implemented.

I’m al for Berlin style and more depth in the OS, but agree with the complexity issues.

Having said that, a global edit mode for pages sounds fine to me.

I think the SEL(lock) button could come in handy for the extra modes in PAGE keeping the basic functions as they are now by making the "Berlin" stuff (which i really like) active by holding the SEL button when hitting EDIT.

The same could be said for different switching modes in GRID (instant or on 1st beat) Holding SEL(lock) while hitting one of the bank SEL buttons could toggle the "instant" switching modes instead of classic.

This way the basic functionality stays the sane, and the extra features come at the price of button combos.
