Quote:This one is easy to explain: I have a dimly lit studio and the LEDs are too bright for me in that situation. They prevent me from reading the print on the front panel. Would it be possible to attenuate the brightness using a button + main encoder knob?We have tried to find the best fit for playing in an out-door and studio enviroment
and since Octopus is out we never have had this feedback and feature wish
from our users so far. Unfortunately the LEDs on the Octopus are not "dimmable".
So there is only one brightness possible. To change it would mean to change
the hardware of the Octopus with different components which is quite costly.
If anyone wants to have the Octopus changed "darker" please contact us directly.Would be a help for you to use an USB Lamp to be able to ready the print
also in your dimly lit studio?Does somebody has the contrary opinon about the brightness of the Legacy or
BlackSea Octopus?Cheers,

Keymaster….or a perfect controller for Abelton Live……

KeymasterNot at all.. go to arrangement view. There, right click on the record button of any track, and make sure that "Arm Exclusive (Pref)" is unticked.
Now you are able to arm more than one track for recording.gseher
KeymasterPress the upper "C" button (turns orange), and only one pitch will be output.

KeymasterI would like to know how LDT managed to get two of the same notes in a chord,so that I could use strum repeats
on hi hats and snares for fills and rolls.gseher
KeymasterOops.. put it on the list. Sorry about that.

KeymasterMy current setup:
The Octo feeds a bunch of (old and new) analogs. Their audio (16 channels) goes into Ableton on my macbook. I use a Novation Remote SL that goes into Ableton, where I use a miditrack only for routing midi (on the relevant channel) into the Octo.

KeymasterQuote:You mean the scale steps thingy? They are named "Track chord stacks" in the manual. I think Gabriel dissabled them while working on the new step chord features.

KeymasterFinally got to dig into this new feature, and I just have to congratulate the "team". It is brilliant.
It is so fast now, to give any step a play probability of 50%, 33%, 25% etc: Just one click on a chord buttonB)

KeymasterYes good point,I keep finding myself having to edit cc
data in cubase,as using another track or page will get really confusing as to what is controlling what.
X/Y pad is a good example,but also normal cutoff/
Resonance/Decay playoff.
And well done Wilson for explaining a possible structure for doing this.gseher
KeymasterAs Ripe says,I could then use the Octopus as the transport for Cubase. Also including MMC may allow the page repeats to reset to 1 when you stop and start.
Which I think they should anyway,as when I record into
cubase I keep forgeting to go in and reset every page, which is a pain in the ass.gseher
KeymasterAbsolutely brilliant Paul!

KeymasterI put up a profile with all the drone and groan robot blues stuff once the triplet time got going and the machines were good and drunk. All machines get fed pieces of Octopus junk along with control voltage sliding and squealing.
There was some cleanup at the very end since a lot of these were jams that went on for a bit.
It was fun to makes something other than the standard techno and electro stuff I usually enjoy wrestling around with. No guitars played..just some good ol’ overdrive and distortion on all the synths and drum boxes getting triggered.http://www.myspace.com/paulbirkenandthedirtypartysnakes

KeymasterI have the same problem, I think in my case it’s worse because of the black panel (and the purple lights are bloody bright).
It’d be kind of cool if the the Black Sea had reacted better to "blacklight".
In order to use it my glasses have to be perfectly clean (I got some scratches on them which don’t help_or, I need a strong light on it to be able to read the panel (little usb led light is not enough).

KeymasterQuote:Is this in the manual, btw?I haven´t looked:)
A general tip: Look for stuff that light up when you press a button. In this case when ESC lights up with the selection on, this means that ESC will do something when pressed. -
