KeymasterHowdy.
Just an FYI, I too encountered a similar error where as the SYSEX file finished transferring my LEDs were still lit and the Program was blinking purple/white (I have a black sea) and then just sitting there frozen. I attempted the update probably 10-12 times with different transfer settings, Sysex programs, etc. until I read through this thread.
I confirmed many times my OS level was 1.40. I took by the recommendation of those on this thread and used the special 1.42–>1.60 file and that upgraded just fine. I’m now back in business!
What the heck? Why wouldn’t my OS say 1.42 if that was the OS that I was on? Why did this file work when it EXPLICITLY said to do it from only 1.42? Note that this was the first OS upgrade I have had issues with, and I started with my Legacy at 0.92 I think; so I’ve done a lot of OS upgrades over the last couple of years, all perfect until now!
Wanted to share my experience with everyone else in case others had the same issue.

KeymasterHello Timo,
honestly, I have not tried to upload OS 1.60 on top of 1.02. If direct upload was not successful, you may want to try and install the OS updater utility first, and then try to install 1.60. Hope it works out.
Cheers,

Keymasterah, ok it works only when it’s sending out the midi clock.
The manual says it works both in master and slave… slave doesn’t seem to work. Maybe it’s a mistake in the manual

KeymasterMy take is that if you want to discuss other gear, you may go and discuss it in their respective manufacturer forums – like you come here to discuss Octopus and Nemo.
The combinations of these with other gear are already being discussed, see the Virus TI threads, or the discussion on Logic – all from an Octopus/Nemo perspective.
Plus, if you use other forums, it’s not so bad for the rest of the world to find out what they may be missing out on

…if it has to do with a relation between Octopus <> other gear you’ll already find a place to post…if it is just about that other gear: who cares around here, and who wouldnt be engaged in other more general forums anyway/already to discuss other gear…
…in my opinion broadening in this case leads to loosing focus…

KeymasterHah! Humor well taken…
And yes, the Octopus is great as an improvisational tool… like I said above….
Again in response to the "gigging" thread…
Seems some feel it is risky to not have pre-set material… and it is…no doubt about it.
And some feel "But it would be wicked to be really constructing and editing sequences live."
Which I guess is the "paradigm" I wanted to voice support for… and mainly for the creators of this wonderful box to hear support for I what I think was Gabriels comments towards that direction; many seemed to not agree with his comments vibe… but I do…
I think someone could be fast enough with it to crank it out.. a real testament to the UI and functional design… simple yet powerful….

Keymaster^i agree in part with that… but the advantage of this forum is it’s seems to be a lot more constructive and our population seems to be relatively devoid of muppets and idiots. Most other forums really give me the shits… i’d much rather share information here with like-minded people that know what they’re talking about (mostly
)gseher
KeymasterSounds good.
I’d like that it could expand on other machines and how they interact with the Octopus/Nemo and other studio or live questions as well.gseher

Don’t get me started on Logic! I’ve used it since day one….. v6 was fine but I remember being very pi**ed when they stopped supporting VST with v7. I have Logic 8 now, needs must, business expects it etc. Unless you have to don’t, the list of never before problems is large and very frustrating. My move the Octopus isn’t as a replacement for Logic though, I just like things that make you think differantly. Roll on December here too!

Keymasteryes the way it currently works.
gseher
Keymasterah ok, so as it currently works ?
or you mean it acts to the bar rather than the beat?gseher
Keymasterswitching on the first beat of the bar as most drum machines traditionally do. You select the target pattern at any time and the sequencer waits untill the beginning of the pattern to switch.
