are you connecting directly between computer and Octopus? I have triple-checked the sysex files, and replayed the update step here without any problems..
Do you have a chance to maybe try another MIDI interface?

I guess this discussion belongs to the topic "Step atrributes – some confusion" in the User Exchange area..right?… Or are you talking about another "bug fix" for 1.60? I’m a bit confused…am I? :unsure:Hope you will have this solved!

KeymasterYeah..it was freezing halfway for me as well until I used the 1.42 to 1.60. So many great things in here. Loving the feel on these changes with the step mutes.

KeymasterHahaha! I did have a vague feeling that I was missing something. I use the select button all the time for doing stuff to multiple tracks, but I just never related that to chaining tracks. Duh! But of course I will keep on using my nose just for the show.
Anyway I still think that "vertical track rotation" would be fun.
-And yes, that was only from coffeeB)

Anyway, how to select 8 tracks to chain them:
Hold the SEL button pressed with one finger on the hand of your choice and the use the nose to click individually all the tracks you want to add to the selection.
Once the selection is active as you want it, you click the chain button.

Anyway, those dots are really easy to do. Took me about 2 minutes I guess. Just dont do it if you have alzheimers or you just drank 6 cups of coffee.
If you are not satisfied you can just scrape it off with a nail.gseher

additional live playing and knob tweaking on top is a good way of performing and less risky like starting from Zero.I know Kraftwerk very well and saw several shows. They are all the same like playing a backgroud CD or Hard Disk of "Kraftwerk´s Best" plus sometimes one or two notes on top.
But they are the master minds of the machine music produced 20/ 30 years ago:) in opposite to glamour rock, etc and they setting trends. :woohoo:

KeymasterHmmm, the Octopus, from the front to the back,
including the control box is exactly the same dimensions
as my Minimoog.At the moment, I have a Little Phatty on my desk
but I am hoping I can squeeze the Octopus on there instead.
I will measure the height of the shelf tonight and see
if it is more than 125mm!Thanks!

KeymasterYeah, I know where you’re coming from. Personally, it’s been my quest to try and show audiences that live, improvised electronic music cannot and should not equate to the obsessive perfection that DJs bring us.
The distinction is increasingly blurred anyway as DJs and ‘live’ acts can be seen lined up behind their laptops with no obvious relationship between what they do and what you then hear. If a DJ and a live act both hit play on Ableton and then twiddle a few controllers or fiddle with knobs on the mixing desk, how on earth can we compete on anything like a level playing field? These guys might be checking their email for all the crowd knows or cares…

Hey, I’ve done gigs where everyone is glum if extensive live wanking is not on the menu! :sick: A lot depends on the type of music you’re doing – but for pretty much any kind of dance music, even chillout these days, structure is important, sometimes obsessively so (I’ve discovered through experience).
Personally I’m still searching for the ultimate live dance sequencer in hardware. I’ve resisted gigging Ableton, although I use it at home.
