Hi Peter, the snapshot function is not intended to keep the state across sessions (i.e. with reboots in between). It is used to recall states within the same session. Let’s say you have a state you want to return to – you make a snapshot, then change your content and experiment, and then recall the snapshot to go back to the starting point. I like to use this live to build crazy variatios of the same theme which I can then recall instantly. Hope this helps. Cheers, Gabriel

Press and hold the PAGE button (in the MODE block) and press the REC button to enable the page record mode. If you now select a track or more (hold it selected, or lock selection, whatever you prefer), play a MIDI note into the MIDI in and that note will be taken over as the track pitch for the selected tracks.

Hi Peter, that would be 1.60.11.
If you want you can upload the current OS file from the server, which is 1.60.32 and adds some minor improvements.
    Cheers,

Wow, thanks for the response. So, it looks like I may be out of luck unless I act quickly. Thanks again.

Hi Peter, yes, this is the way to do it. You then read out the version number in row 1 of the matrix. Cheers, Gabriel.

The response time in grid track mode is indeed on our list of things to improve. It is definitely not where we want it to be, but until now has been prioritized down in favor of some other goodies that you all like :-)

Does anyone know how quickly the Black Sea Octopus sold?

…hmm, no. But, when I ordered mine – about a month before it was officially on sale I was told that the response already was overwhelming and unexpected. When the BlackSea was to be on sale officially, I got word that it was already sold out…

    …so, I’d say, the 20 BlackSeas sold within a month – or less…

…hmmm, I wouldn’t. While I like the Vampire, and could imagine a blue ‘Ice’-Octopus, I still like the BlackSea most B)

…btw. who owns all those BlackSeas? When I ordered mine, it was not clear if number 001 would be ready first or number 002 – I received number 002; who has the other 19?

I have Logic 6.4.3 so I am aware of the sync limitation. In fact it was this that made me spend my money on the Octopus, rather than Logic 8 and a new Mac.

Instead I will have the Octopus paid off by December
and I’ll buy a G5 desktop which I can use for another
5 or six years, with 6.4.3 until hopefully Logic is better again or something better arrives.

Yes you can. The channelsplitter object does the trick. Just assign 16 instruments (with proper outport and channel setting) to one channelsplitter. And 2 channel splitters makes 32 channels.

Unfortunately Logic CAN’T be synced to incoming midiclock. They skipped that feature from Logic 5 and upwards. So in your scenario Logic must be the master and Octopus the slave. It all depends how stable Logic send out it’s clocksignal and how forgiving Octopus is regarding drift.
