KeymasterHoping I get this right – it sounds like what you are looking for is the FLT function which is on board already. Note that there are some restrictions that come with it, especially if you have different STA values for steps that fall on the same position.
To invoke it, and sticking with your example, select the tracks 4,3, and 1, and with that selection active invoke the FLT function.
Cheers, Gabriel

…technically it should be possible to collect all the notes in one track as a step supports more than one note at a time…
…the copying is probably the tricky part…
…my support for this ‘feature request’…

Keymasteri can’t think of any bad implications of that… it should be fine for the time being…

KeymasterOK – so there is sure some conceptual work to be done here until we have the solution that includes track length modulation and what not. Point taken

But for the time being life goes on and people want to use the machine until then.
So again, what speaks against -intermediarily- having step skips work both the old way and the new way. Fortunately they do not conflict, the old operation mode (MUT+Step) does not do anything right now. Let me know.
And I repeat – "intermediarily".Gabriel

KeymasterI remember discussing this with you a long time ago, and don’t remember the answer – but why not have a track length parameter that is separate from the step muting? But if you did implement it, I promise that I will ask that it be a modulation destination.
gseher
KeymasterThat is precisely where the conflict is. So it seems that building a version which allows both ways of operation is the way to go for now.

Keymasterlol. i hate the old way – the new way has made the machine much more usable for me… the old way is only usable if you never have tracks muted – and i (and i would expect most people) have got muted tracks all the time – especially if you use the octopus live…
please don’t go back to the old way! perhaps the ‘sticky’ mode i suggested a while back is a workaround, but the old way is basically accepting a bug as far as i’m concerned. if you have tracks muted, there is no way at all to skip steps without screwing everything up big time – that’s a far bigger and more serious problem than the current speed issue imo…

KeymasterI’m fine with the earlier mode of operation, but I don’t think I’ve ever used the mute recall function (if indeed that’s where the conflict is).

KeymasterWould it help for now to still allow the old mode of operation? Yes, it has flaws, but people seem to like it for the speed. Just a thought.

Keymasteryeah – this is driving me crazy right now. And I started out crazy.

KeymasterYES!!!
I was actually wondering if Nemo could do this already!
IF it can’t and it is possible, this would be AMAZING. Just sick. A bit like the way Ableton’s Legato mode works. In fact the same. A really easy way to chop in fills and variations without messing with the flow of the main material. One day I would like to dig into the OS source code… one day!

Keymasteryes, by hitting "edit" then pressing the buttons.
This is quite logical and explained in the manual, but i initially didn’t think to use this function once the pages are setup and the song is playing, more as a tool when composing the pages.
So for example if your working in A- you can put a abput 1.5 octaves on a track and play from there. Good for a compact live setup.

Keymasteryou mean you can play individual notes out of the non-playing sequences?

KeymasterInteresting thread. Still getting to grips with my Nemo. Mainly using it to control my modular atm. I’ve been doing Ableton audio-based live sets for a couple of years or so now, and I would like to move to a more sequence-oriented set. Possibly with the Nemo sequencing samplers/synths in Ableton as well as triggering clips, and possibly also an external synth or two. My main reason for using audio though is my sound relies a lot on modular sounds or heavily processed sounds and i would not want to lug all that stuff to clubs unless its a special gig.
I can relate to the blur between live and djing with laptops – I use 3 midi controllers so I hardly have to touch the laptop during my set. But it would be wicked to be really constructing and editing sequences live.

Keymasteraha.. i just found the grid/program combo, thats what i wanted to do.
wow, this thing is really amazing! i`ve started to explore step attributes, grooves and pos, wow!
and the workflow is just butiful..
