See you over there.
RobertRobert van der KampParticipantI must have missed the release of v1.62_jk02. What is it?

It seems to me that you could integrate it into the existing Nemo concepts/workflow/etc. and people wouldn’t even know it was there unless they wanted to investigate.[/quote]Yes, true. But… if an ignorent user were to trigger the ‘secret’ button combo to toggle to the other set of banks/tracks, and stares at a totally empty Nemo, he/she could think that Nemo lost all the data.

Quote:Well, Robert, I think if we did get it built, they would adopt it. I just think waiting for them to build it might involve waiting forever. Isn’t that what happened with your step phrases (that was you, wasn’t it?)? You came up with a feature they liked so much they made it a permanent part of the OS?I wrote 90% of the changes in the big v1.60 OS release. Most of that went in fine, only my phrase stuff got clipped a little (I wanted more phrase presets and a little more control).
So yes, it’s likely that a solid patch will be accepted by the guys. But since we’re pushing the concept behind the Nemo (keep it simple) with this new proposal, I’m not 100% sure in this case.
Robert van der KampParticipantAnd there’s another problem. Where to go with the changes applied to the Nemo sources? A patch like that will easily get out of sync with whatever genoQs adds/changes to the source tree. The best thing that could happen to a large change like that would be adoption by genoQs.

Robert van der KampParticipantAdam, is that email address correct?
Robert van der KampParticipantThe biggest question would probably be wether or not the Octo can respond to the request while playing. I’d have to check again, but afaik this is not possible at the moment. Sending the Octo a dump request would thus trigger the machine to stop itself in order to respond to the request, which would be dramatically awkward.
Robert
Robert van der KampParticipantIn PAGE mode, grab the track (i.e. hold down the SEL button corresponding with the track involved) and turn the MCH pot.
MIDI ports are set on a per-track basis.

Am I missing something obvious?I think the last (3rd) bank in the preset pool is comprised of ‘wobble’ phrases. These only subtly wobble stuff like STA and VEL attributes.
A wobble phrase can seriously add life to you track while staying subtle. Select a ton of steps in a track while playing (e.g. a hihat pattern) and scan through the wobbles to see how the ‘feel’ changes. Like all phrases, a wobble phrase can have random play mode, to make the tweaks less predictable.
Robert
Robert van der KampParticipantOkay then, enough interest to get the ‘serious’ patch out of the door!
I will fill the the preset pool with a number of new phrases that I have yet to create, before making the patch available, enough to define all the categories I had in mind.
I will also add the needed documentation in the reference manual I’m working on. (The ref manual was the actual trigger that led me here.)

RobertRobert van der KampParticipantThat’s why I’ll export the wiki in a format readable by all of us, like PDF or web.

RobertRobert van der KampParticipantHere’s an image showing the topics produced do far. I’m around page 20 of the user manual, so still a lot of work to do.

Robert van der KampParticipantThat’s a nice document Roger, thanks for sharing!
My manual is written in Voodoopad on the Mac as a wiki with hyperlinks. I plan to document as many funtions-on-objects (step, track, page…) as possible, and the information described in your document will also be covered.
I will then export the whole wiki into a single doc, maybe PDF, or RTF, or HTML. Dunno yet. This idea is it allows you to quickly do a search on things like "page clear", or "track transpose".
Cheers,
